Wooden Benches

Wooden Benches
I have always had a soft spot for a humble bench, and these 19th Century Wooden Benches tell their story the moment you see the worn stretchers and softened edges. Each one comes out of true country use, with original paint that has mellowed under a century and more of boots, aprons, and Sunday best brushing past.

The surfaces show that dry, honest wear collectors look for, with traces of old colors peeking through in all the right places. Long, narrow forms work beautifully at a farm table, under a bank of pegs, or along a hallway where you need useful seating without bulk. They are sturdy enough for everyday use, yet gentle enough in appearance to slide into a refined early room.

If you are building an authentic primitive look, a real 1800s bench grounds the space in a way no reproduction can. Contact me for current examples, measurements, and more photos, and I will gladly help you choose the right survivor for your home.
